We had been Pomeranian owners for years and after the death of our old friend Windsor, I felt that I still needed for my arms to hold something soft and silky, but to have better teeth and be a bit more sturdy than Pomeranians. My research led me to Marilyn Griswold of the Sidekick Kennels and a new breed called a Havanese. To this day when I answer the question of what type of dog that I have, the response is a " Hava-who? " Marilyn interviewed me as a possible owner and I was pleased that she only sells to approved homes.  Our Rio is all that we could ask for as a companion dog. He is lively and ' forces ' us to go for walks and to play. My large female Akita lets him walk all over her when she lies down and they play for hours in this position! Even the cats play and roll with him in the yard. Marilyn's dogs are born with nothing but joy in their hearts and there is never a ' bad ' day for a Havanese!
